New Activities!
Story sack
We have borrowed a
story sack to try with the group. This is a book with
corresponding toys which help the children to take part in telling
the story. Being an 'active listener' helps to extend your child's
attention span. Holding the toy helps your child to learn the word
- especially if the word is spoken in a new language. We will do
our best to read the story in English and Welsh. This should help
parents as well as children!
Music
session.
Children don't
learn much by running round with instruments, and it's not very
relaxing for parents either! Our instruments are for use in the
music session whilst sitting down. Excellent for listening and
attention, which is the foundation on which children learn
language, reading, and so many other skills. We will trial a very
short instruments session each week, and see how this goes.
Song bag.
This is a bag of
toys, each toy corresponds to a song. It allows your child to
chose their favourite song even before he / she can speak or do
the actions! Over the weeks, the children will learn which toy
represents which song. Each child will get a chance to chose a
song, and hold the toy while we all sing. Of course this also
helps the little ones' attention skills to develop. We will
introduce this after Easter.
Requests
for toys / activities.
If you have any
ideas, please speak to Helen, Jane, or Hannah at group. We can buy new toys or try out new activities.
