Oh, what a day!
The Henllan Extravaganza 2005 might easily have
been renamed Henllan Waterworld 2005. Opened by Denbighshire Chief Executive Ian
Miller, the Extravaganza proved again to be popular for all those who came and
who took part. The forecast of early showers proved to be woefully inaccurate.
Saturday 13th August proved a prophetic date. Continual
heavy rain all morning and early afternoon, failed to dampen the
spirit of the event, but kept the crowds firmly away. The rain
proved to be the downfall of an otherwise entertaining day. Soaked
and soddened but not downhearted, the gallant band of organisers,
stallholders and a determined few, braved the squalls of lashing
rain to ensure that the event was not a washout.
Eventually it did stop raining and the sun shone. Adversities
overcome, the last few hours, providing a tentative glimpse of what
might have been, the stoic resolve of all concerned, proved only
that in such circumstances the best shines through.
